Pollard Picks Jackson

ISU has a new wrestling coach.  Kevin Jackson will be formally introduced as the new leader Friday at 11:00am.

I thought all along it was going to be Joe Heskett, but Pollard chose a guy with a little more experience — and more Gold medals.

Cyclones … happy with this?

  1. We shall see. I think he or Heskett would both be great choices. Can’t wait to see what he does with the talent he inherited.

  2. I’m happy with it. Jackson bleeds cardinal and gold. However, I think that someone with some college head coaching experience Bono) might have been a better choice.

    Time will tell.

  3. I believe that Mr. Jackson has an amazing work ethic and the will and determination to lead ISU into a great future. his inexperience with coaching at a collegiate level could work to his advantage, allowing him to develop a unique coaching technique that may be what is needed to mend a team that has its fair share of ups and downs not only in the last few weeks but in the last fe years. I think Cael would have been that person had he stuck with ISU and I also think Mr. jackson is that person as well…good choice and I wish the best of luck to him and his team. I think that maybe in the next year or so the Hawks might have themselves a true force to reckon with.

  4. There is one thing that is very attractive about coaching any sport at ISU. Beat Iowa and you’ve had a successful year. Wrestling, Football, Basketball, all except for Women’s Basketball where the bar has been raised above all other sports at ISU by the success of the program itself.
Mr. Jackson seems to be a guy we can all get behind. Hopefully he can beat Iowa.
